Alcoa Inc. of Pittsburgh has opened a plant in Stara Zagora, Bulgaria, to produce household-wrap products including film, disposal bags and foil. The site is a platform for Alcoa's packaging and consumer products businesses, officials said.
The company has begun production of PVC film and aluminum foil, and bag manufacturing will begin later this year. Alcoa is making products branded under Reynolds and Baco for the United Kingdom, Eastern Europe and the Middle East.
It is Alcoa's first facility in Bulgaria, and officials expect to employ as many as 200 at its production peak.
