Sister machinery companies Krauss-Maffei Kunststofftechnik GmbH and Berstorff GmbH (Booth S2102) have formally set up a joint subsidiary in Russia, called BKM OOO, after running a joint office there for several years.
BKM is registered in Moscow, under the legal form of a German GmbH corporation. The company will assemble and commission machines and handle upgrading and repairing equipment. KM and Berstorff said they also plan to install a spare-parts operation.
Munich-based Krauss-Maffei makes injection molding machines, extruders and polyurethane processing equipment. Berstorff, based in Hanover, Germany, compounding extruders. Berstorff established a sales and service office in Moscow in 2001. The companies, both units of Mannesmann Plastics Machinery GmbH, created a joint office in Russia in 2002.
BKM will serve Russia and the nearby Commonwealth of Independent States.
KM and Berstorff work together on some projects, such as an injection molding compounder, which pairs a Berstorff compounding extruder with a KM press to directly compound material, then mold the parts.
