Jean-Michel Cousteau visited NPE on June 21 with executives from Dow Chemical Co. of Midland, Mich.
Dow has teamed with Cousteau's Ocean Futures Society to explore creative solutions to environmental challenges through technology and education. The relationship between Dow and OFS is highlighting the fact that marine debris is a social behavior problem, not a plastics industry problem,
As part of the alliance, Dow is sponsoring a six-part television series called ``Jean-Michel Cousteau: Ocean Adventures,'' which began airing this spring on PBS. The series is produced by OFS and KQED Public Broadcasting in San Francisco.
``We are as eager as anyone to see [the series] come to life on public television, spiriting people of all ages into an undersea world of beauty and discovery, while at the same time raising awareness of the problems our oceans face,'' said Romeo Kreinberg, Dow executive vice president of performance plastics and chemicals.
