Buss Inc. (Booth N5926) is unveiling in North America its Quantec 67 high-performance kneader for compounding PVC and other shear- and temperature-sensitive materials.
It has a 67-millimeter screw and can reach production levels of up to 2,250 pounds per hour. Its unusual feature is that during each rotation, the mixing and kneading screw makes one forward and backward stroke. The extra motion intensifies mixing in longitudinal and lateral directions, leading to highly dispersive and enhanced distributive mixing.
Buss said other improvements include larger intake zones for bulky materials, a new four-flight screw design up from the previous three-flight standard, unique screw geometry and more powerful drive. Buss Inc.'s U.S. office in Carol Stream, Ill., said existing MKS kneaders can be upgraded with key modules of the new Quantec technology.
