CHICAGO (June 28, 2:15 p.m. EDT) — Mold component supplier Ka Shin Technologies (S) Pte. Ltd. opened a sales office in Vietnam because it said it sees strong opportunities in that market.
“I know a lot of my customers have committed to expanding their factories there,'' said Felix Wong, director of the firm's Singapore office.
Wong said the company opened the three-person office in Ho Chi Minh City two months ago because the mold building industry in Vietnam is developing. As well, he said that high-tech giant Intel's plan to open a US $600 million computer chip plant there in 2008 has fueled interest in the country.
Japanese, Korean and Taiwanese firms are among the strongest foreign investors there, he said. Ka Shin, a subsidiary of Tokyo, Japan-based Punch Industry Co. Ltd., attended NPE 2006 in Chicago.
