Fiberglass supplier Johns Manville of Denver introduced several new products during NPE 2006.
ThermoFlow EC 10 768 10 millimeter is a 10-micron chopped strand for high-temperature resins such as polyphenylene sulfide, polysulfone and polyetheretherketone. Officials said the fiber provides a 10 percent improvement in retained properties compared with competitive fibers after hydrolysis testing. The fiber would be used for automotive, electrical and electronics applications.
JM's StarRov LFT is a family of premium direct rovings for long fiber thermoplastic technologies. According to the company, it has superior resin-impregnation characteristics and best-in-class mechanical performance, making it useful for structural automotive parts and industrial applications.
JM's StarStran LCF is a patent-pending fiber reinforcement that can be easily dispersed and wet out in low-shear environments. According to the company, the fiber is suited for automotive, construction and civil engineering applications.
Another product developed by the firm, StarStran LCF 914, is compatible with polypropylene and most engineered thermoplastic polymers. It can be used in injection molding, compression molding and extrusion.
