CHICAGO (Aug. 9, 6:10 p.m. EDT) — Plastic Engineering & Technical Services Inc. took the wraps off its new Space Saving Module Control 951 temperature controller during NPE 2006 in Chicago.
The user can set up, monitor and run the controller using a computer network over the Internet.
SSMC 951 delivers precise, multizone temperature control. It can measure temperatures 64 times per millisecond and makes adjustments every three seconds.
The company in Auburn Hills, Mich., offers a 12-zone SSMC. Temperature controllers are offered in 12-, 24-, 36-, 48- and 60-zone models, with a 15-zone control quad rack system.
Features include automatic internal switching, which reads an open thermocouple and adjusts to manual mode. The controller also features automatic shutoff and a high/low temperature alarm indicator. The temperature controller is compatible with the Society of the Plastics Industry Inc.´s communi- cations standards.
In other NPE-related news, MTS introduced what it called an industry-first: its Pin Positioned Electric Valve Gate, which is patented. The product gives unlimited processing control, according to the firm, and can dictate the flow of resin throughout a number of gates in family molds.
