A magnetic pen replaces the screwdriver to make adjustments on Gefran ISI Inc.'s redesigned M/W series of melt pressure transducers for extrusion, on display at NPE 2006.
The Autozero feature is standard on all models. The operator can offset any variations by using a magnetic pen, attached to the outside of the transmitter.
The M/W also boasts a GTP coating material applied to the sensing tip, making it extremely resistant to abrasive, corrosive chemicals and high temperatures.
Also new at NPE, the K-Series family of melt pressure transmitters for high-temperature applications, such as medical tubing and other processes that extrude high-temperature engineered resins. K transmitters use sodium potassium as the pressure transmission medium. The units are available in the same configurations as Gefran's M and W melt pressure transducer and transmitter series.
Gefran also exhibited the GFX4 and GFXtermo4 multiloop controllers for the first time. Controller features include four-loop control, self-tuning and autotuning, and a soft-start function for preheating.
Gefran is based in Winchester, Mass.
