Universal Dynamics Inc. of Woodbridge, Va., displayed Models GPG-1536 and GPG-910 of its AutoGrind grinders at NPE 2006 in Chicago.
The grinders, for injection and blow molding and extrusion, feature a swing-away material blower and cyclone that are standard with stainless-steel tubing.
Other features include a hardened cutting chamber, tilt-back soundproof hopper, staggered/open rotor design, 5-horsepower blower/cyclone package, drop-down screen cradle/reversible screen, high-amp alarm, rotor pulley, safety interlocks and low in-feed heights.
Also new from Una-Dyn:
* Sure-Track Production Monitoring, which can be integrated into the F.A.C.S. system. The low-cost system automatically tracks cycle time, jobs, interruptions, downtime and idle time, without requiring the user to make any entries.
* A self-contained, brushless vacuum loader called the LS-95B. The stainless-steel loader, with no internal seams, eliminates the chance of con¼tamination, according to the firm. Pulse-clean technology directs bursts of air to the fabric filter, allowing it to self-clean.
* The Power Max-X series of vacuum pumps, designed to be compact, powerful and quiet, features a regenerative pneumatic pump. A positive displacement pump delivers powerful, steady suction. A vacuum breaker stops conveying resin while the vacuum pump keeps running.
* Two feeders, both using a stepper motor with a feed cylinder. The AutoLoad OS-1 augerless feeder uses no motor brushes and boasts a modular design that allows quick material changes. The OS-1 can run up to 55 pounds of material an hour. The AutoLoad OS-B gravimetric feeder for extrusion automatically compensates for any variation in the bulk density of the additive. Una-Dyn said both loaders are easy to take apart and clean.
