Windmoeller & Hoelscher Corp. ran film on a three-layer Varex blown film line at NPE 2006. The company also introduced its Filmatic TX dual-turret winder for plastic film.
The Filmatic TX is an extension of the Filmatic T. Like the T, the TX features center, gap and reverse winding, plus adhesive-free web transfer. The new feature is Filmatic TX's extra-large roll diameter, of either 40 inches or 47 inches. (The T caps out at 31½ inches.)
Another new feature is the winder's floor configuration.
The Filmatic TX is available in face-to-face or back-to-back setups that place the two winders alongside one another. The T is available in a stacked format only, with one winder on top of the other.
W&H sold its first Filmatic TX sold in North America to Iso Poly Films Inc. in Gray Court, S.C. Earlier this year, Iso Poly Films bought a seven-layer Varex line to make barrier film, and the line was equipped with a Filmatic TX.
Windmoeller & Hoelscher, based in Lincoln, R.I., also announced it sold a seven-layer Varex blown film line to Atlanta-based Atlantis Plastics Inc. and a nine-layer Filmex cast film line to Excelsior Packaging Group of Yonkers, N.Y.
