R&D Tool and Engineering Co. is offering two products designed to boost blow molding productivity.
R&D's Genesis line of hot runners, originally designed for single-stage injection stretch blow molding, is now tailored to injection blow molding applications. The company in Lee's Summit, Mo., said the new Genesis hot-runner system is designed to work on Uniloy or Jomar blow molders.
A proprietary melt-delivery system balances the resin flow to each hot-runner nozzle. Internal, adjustable metering devices mean the fill balance is better than 90 percent accurate, allowing for quick, easy color changes.
R&D also introduced a quick-change lower blow assembly for injection stretch machines. The unit cuts the time it takes to change tools, by incorporating the molding surface of the blow cavities into a mono-block, which is mounted to a universal backplate with quick disconnects.
