Thailand masterbatch maker Best Plastics Technology Co. Ltd. is adding six extrusion lines, boosting its capacity by 30 percent, in a bid to get into the market for specialty compounding.
Best Plastics, based in the Bangkok suburb of Nakompatom, wants to expand into automotive markets and target foreign car makers that are boosting investments in Thailand, said Managing Director Surachai Ratitong.
The company will focus on polypropylene, ABS and engineering resins, which car makers often have to import now, he said.
The move will increase Best's capacity from 26.5 million pounds a year to 33 million pounds. Best is spending 55.8 million Thai baht ($1.5 million) on the expansion, which will be operational in 2007. Annual sales are 186 million baht ($5 million).
