Battenfeld Injection Molding GmbH is on a hiring spree as it focuses on growth in the 10-country region known as the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
This year Battenfeld Injection Molding, based in Kottingbrunn, Austria, has boosted overall staff at its offices throughout the ASEAN region from five people to 16, adding employees in Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and Singapore. The firm is targeting electrical, automotive, packaging and medical customers, said Peter Theobald, managing director of Battenfeld Injection Moulding Technology Pte. Ltd.'s regional headquarters in Singapore.
Battenfeld also plans to establish offices in Indonesia and the Philippines, Theobald said in an interview at the Thai International Plastics and Rubber Exhibition in Bangkok. He said the firm wants to rely less on agents and more on engineering services.
Theobald said Battenfeld is trying to tailor its offerings better, such as promoting its 5-ton micromolding presses to the region's strong electronics manufacturing base.
The company has sold five of the presses so far in Southeast Asia, he said.
The exhibition ran Sept. 14-17.
