Kawaguchi America Ltd., known for its gate-cutting robots, has entered a new market with a device for safely handling molds called the Mold Tipper.
The Mold Tipper protects employees from injury and keeps molds from damage during handling for service, the company said. The heavy-steel device is shaped like a right angle. Using an overhead crane, a technician lowers a mold onto the Mold Tipper, then slowly lowers the mold while the structure turns on its side.
After the mold work is over, the employee reverses the process to bring the mold back to the horizontal position.
Kawaguchi America, based in Minnetonka, Minn., offers the Mold Tipper with a capacity of 2,000 pounds or 5,000 pounds. The company will offer a 10,000-pound model in the future.
