Nylon Corp. of America Inc. has developed an ultrahigh-viscosity nylon 6 with glass reinforcement for applications that demand high stiffness, dimensional stability and long-service life.
Nycoa 4212 HS is heat-stabilized and impact-modified to stand up to uses such as thermoformed under-the-hood housings and shrouds, and blow molded chemical storage reservoirs. The material's high melt strength makes it well-suited for thermoforming while providing nylon's advantages of weatherability, colorability, durability and chemical resistance. Nycoa 4212 HS can be processed on existing equipment, according to the Manchester, N.H., firm.
