Reifenhäuser GmbH & Co. KG Maschinenfabrik, a German maker of blown and cast film machinery, adopted a new corporate structure July 1, when the activities of all film equipment divisions were pooled into the newly established Reifenhäuser Extrusion GmbH & Co. KG.
Reifenhäuser Extrusion now includes the blown film, thermoformed sheet, chill roll/laminating and component product areas, plus customer service and central production.
Klaus and Ulrich Reifenhäuser, who head Reifenhäuser Maschinenfabrik, will lead the complete group of companies, which includes Reifenhäuser Extrusion, Reifenhäuser Reicofil, Reiloy, Reimotec, Polyrema and Reifenhäuser Machinery China.
In other news, Reifenhäuser:
* Presented a cast film line at an open house in Troisdorf, Germany, that can process film in one to seven layers. Four of the seven extruders are from the direct-drive REItorque series, with a smaller footprint and lower energy consumption than conventional extruders. Other features include an intelligent heating-up program and special screws that boost throughput while maintaining homogeneity.
* Showed a three-layer Filmtec 3-1700-IBC blown film line, with output 25-30 percent higher than other film lines. The REItorque extruder is outfitted with a newly developed low-temperature screw.
The firm's U.S. unit, Reifenhauser Inc., is in Ipswich, Mass.
