Demag names reps in Atlantic region
STRONGSVILLE, OHIO - Demag Plastics Group of Strongsville announced new sales representatives covering the mid-Atlantic and New England regions.
Mainland Machinery Group of Harleysville, Pa., covers Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey and Virginia, plus eastern Pennsylvania and southeast New York. MMG President Don Ivey has 14 years of experience in the plastics industry.
D&A Associates of Blackstone, Mass., covers Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont, plus eastern New York. President Tom Tomaszek, has 33 years of experience in plastics. D&A's office in Berlin, Conn., is staffed by 40-year plastics veteran Ed Hrubiec.
Absolute Haitian signs up sales team
WORCESTER, MASS. - Worcester-based Absolute Haitian Corp., which handles U.S. and Canadian sales and service for Haitian injection presses, announced several sales representative agreements:
* Plastic Systems Inc. of Atlanta will handle Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida.
* Global Plastics Machinery Inc. of Uxbridge, Ontario, will sell machines in Ontario, Canada.
* Lutek Plastic Equipment Inc. of Dorval, Canada, will handle Quebec.
The machines are made by Ningbo Haitian Group Co. Ltd. of Ningbo, China.
PMMI study predicts growth in packaging
ARLINGTON, VA. - U.S. packaging equipment sales should grow again this year, by 3 percent, to $5.8 billion. It will mark the fifth straight year of improvement following a downturn in 2001, according to the Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute.
Arlington-based PMMI credited much of the strength to sustained growth of U.S. companies, strong financial positions by corporations and improved rates of packaging capacity utilization.
PMMI said customers in five of the eight market segments should increase machinery expenditures this year: personal-care products, beverages, food, pharmaceutical/medical and converters, printers and other markets.
PMMI said 62 percent of the respondents plan either to spend more on machinery or keep expenditures at their 2005 level.
Precision AirConvey and Plasmac form JV
NEWARK, DEL. - Precision AirConvey Corp., which manufactures scrap reclamation systems in Newark, has formed a venture with plastics recycling equipment maker Plasmac Ltd. of Aylesbury, England.
Precision AirConvey is offering the complete line of repelletizing extruders in North America, service and spare parts.
Plasmac repelletizers capture edge trim and roll scrap, convert it to pellets and blend it back into the process.
Cinpres Gas Injection gets patent in Europe
MIDDLEWICH, ENGLAND - Cinpres Gas Injection Ltd. of Middlewich received a patent on its Plastic Expulsion Process for gas-assisted injection molding in Europe.
The patent comes after four years of research and development. Cinpres Managing Director Jon Butler said the firm is finding new technologies for PEP, especially in automotive, white goods and home and garden products.
