Kuka Robotics Corp. has donated $1.5 million to endow the Kuka Chair of Robotics at Georgia Institute of Technology's College of Computing.
International robotics expert Henrik Christensen holds the Kuka Chair.
Kuka of Clinton Township, near Clemens, Mich., also donated a Kuka KR 15SL, a six-axis robot made of stainless steel. The College of Computing will use the robot to develop automation for the food industry, including poultry and fruit, and the medical industry.
According to Kuka, the College of Computing is a national leader in creating computing breakthroughs with real-world, practical applications.
Kuka Robotics is part of Kuka Roboter GmbH of Augsburg, Germany.
