RPM International Inc. of Medina has brightened up its product mix via its purchase of a pigments business from Dane Group, a British manufacturer.
RPM bought Dane's fluorescent, phosphorescent and thermochromatic pigments unit for an undisclosed sum. The unit has annual sales of about $20 million, RPM said.
RPM will operate the Dane business as part of its Day-Glo Group, a Cleveland-based business that sells bright, special-effects colors into plastics, graphic arts, paints, coatings, dyes and textiles.
Day-Glo President Steve Jackson said the Dane business, based in Manchester, England, ``is well-established in Europe and Asia and has unique technologies that can be expanded across our business.''
Day-Glo's manufacturing sites are in Cleveland; Twinsburg, Ohio; and Cudahy, Calif. It also operates a plant in Houthalen, Belgium, under the Radiant Color NV name.
