Injection press maker Arburg GmbH has opened its third Chinese sales and service center, in Shenzhen, beefing up its operations in the Pearl River Delta manufacturing zone.
The Lossburg-based firm said it established the 12-person office in Shenzhen because the large electronics and plastics industries in the area are showing increased demand for more sophisticated molding machines.
``In China, there is a huge demand for high technology,'' Helmut Heinson, Arburg managing director for sales, said in a news release.
While it touts rising demand for high-end products, the company earlier this year also launched its first line up of low-cost machines, in part to target emerging markets like China, as it saw global sales drop slightly in 2005.
The 5,400-square-foot Shenzhen facility opened Nov. 16 with a testing center, applications area and spare-parts service. Arburg already had offices in Shanghai and Hong Kong.
