Dynisco LLC has a new owner.
Roper Industries Inc., an instrumentation and technology company with $1.5 billion in sales, is paying $243 million to buy Dynisco from Audex Group.
Roper Industries, based in Duluth, Ga., is traded on the New York Stock Exchange. Roper announced the deal Dec. 15.
Products made by Franklin, Mass.-based Dynisco include pressure transducers, gauges, rheometers, and laboratory instrument and testing equipment for the plastics and rubber industries.
Dynisco President Larry Klumpp and his management team will remain to run Dynisco.
Roper said Dynisco, with operations in the United States, Germany and Malaysia, should generate sales of more than $100 million in 2007. Dynisco's 2007 earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization should be more than $28 million, Roper said.
Brian Jellison, Roper's chairman, president and chief executive officer, said Dynisco fits into his firm's sensor technologies and measurement businesses. Dynisco will become part of Roper's Energy Systems & Controls segment.
``Dynisco has a diverse, blue-chip customer base and a track record of technical innovation,'' Jellison said. Dynisco has an installed base of more than 3 million sensors and 14,000 analytical instruments, according to Roper.
Audax, a Boston investment group, bought Dynisco in 2004 from Chicago investment firm Madison Capital Partners. Later that year, Dynisco purchased Akron, Ohio-based Alpha Technologies US LP, a maker of laboratory instruments and data acquisition and analysis software.
Dynisco expanded into new areas in 2005 by purchasing Viatran Corp., a maker of pressure transducers for the oil and gas, test stand, fluid power and food and beverage industries. Resin makers also use Viatran transducers to monitor their processes.
In 2006, Dynisco got out of the extrusion businesses - including gear pumps, screen changers, and water-ring pelletizers - selling it to Xaloy Inc. of New Castle, Pa. Audax said the extrusion equipment was noncore, and selling it made Dynisco a pure-play test and measurement company.
