Linpac Group Ltd. of Birmingham, England, has sold its materials-handling business in North America to Orbis Corp. of Oconomowoc.
Linpac uses structural foam molding to make bulk containers and pallets at two plants in Georgetown and Bardstown, Ky., Orbis spokeswoman Samantha Goetz said in a Dec. 12 telephone interview.
The Linpac plants employ 285. Orbis also gains Linpac's sales and engineering office in Shanghai.
``We [already] have a joint venture in China, so this expands our capabilities,'' Goetz said.
Orbis operates 22 sales, service and manufacturing sites in North America. It does structural foam molding, injection molding, extrusion and compression molding. Orbis is a unit of Menasha Corp. of Neenah, Wis.
A Linpac spokeswoman declined comment until the deal closes at the end of December.
