Clinton, Mass.-based molder and contract manufacturer Nypro Inc. recently promoted Jim Buonomo to CFO and chief strategic officer. For the previous 10 years he had served as the firm's corporate vice president for China and India. In that role, he was responsible for developing and directing the largest and most profitable region for Nypro, whose global sales surpassed $1 billion in its last full fiscal year. The 15,000-employee company operates in 17 countries, including 10 facilities in China plus molding and toolmaking plants in Bangalore, India.
Buonomo joined Nypro in 1977 and has held a variety of positions throughout the organization, including: director of sales for Asia, director of sales for the Americas, business manager for electronics/telecommunications, general manager for the Nypro assembly division, and controller for its Nylamation unit.
Buonomo also is vice chairman of the Society for the Plastics Industry Inc. trade association in Washington, D.C., and he was a founder and past chairman of SPI's Global Business Council.
