Pete Henning joined Plano Molding Co. in 1978, became its president and chief executive officer in 1986 and added the chairman's title three years later. The Plano, Ill.-based custom injection molder has been producing a broad range of polypropylene storage systems and organizers for indoor and outdoor applications since 1952. The firm is well-known for its proprietary tackle boxes, toolboxes and Caboodles cosmetic cases. It also makes gun cases, archery boxes, storage boxes, shelving and more.
Henning wasn't always in plastics. He began his career teaching, as an assistant professor of economics at Wayne State University in Detroit from 1975-78. During that period, he earned a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Michigan, before switching tracks and moving into industry.
Henning also is very active in community affairs, and has served on the board of directors of the Castle Bancgroup Inc., among other organizations.
