Core Molding Technologies Inc. has ended its attempt to buy competitor Premix Holding Co.
The two companies announced in November that they had signed a letter of intent for Columbus, Ohio-based Core to buy Premix, based in North Kingsville, Ohio.
But on Feb. 16, the companies said they had reached a mutual decision to end the acquisition, noting in a news release they were unable to reach a final agreement.
Core executives added they are continuing to pursue opportunities for strategic growth despite the failed attempt to buy Premix.
Core makes sheet molded compound and molds fiberglass for the transportation industry. The company had $97.8 million in sales for 2005 and $124 million in sales through the first nine months of 2006.
Premix makes thermoset materials and molds fiberglass for a variety of industries. It posted about $75 million in sales for 2005.
