Lanxess Corp. has named Ashland Distribution and PolyOne Corp. as sole distributors of its Lustran-brand ABS and other specialty resins.
The agreement will be phased in during the first half of 2007 and covers Lustran-brand ABS and styrene acrylonitrile, as well as styrenic resins and blends sold under the Centrex trade name and ABS/nylon alloys sold under the Triax banner.
Lustran's uses include appliances, housewares and medical devices. Triax is used in auto parts, electronics and other applications. Centrex's markets include spas, marine and lawn and garden. Together the three products generated 2005 sales of about $2.3 billion for Pittsburgh-based Lanxess.
Dublin, Ohio-based Ashland and PolyOne of Avon Lake, Ohio, rank among North America's largest resin distributors.
