Gardner Publications Inc., the owner of Plastics Technology, MoldMaking Technology and Production Machining, has purchased Ray Publishing and its two magazines, Composites Technology and High-Performance Composites.
Ray Publishing also puts out a weekly e-newsletter called CompositesWorld.com.
Terms were not disclosed for the deal, announced Feb. 12.
The acquisition fits Gardner's growth strategy during the past decade, said Richard Kline, chief executive officer of the Cincinnati-based firm. Gardner bought PT in 2000, then added MoldMaking Technology in 2005.
Family-owned Gardner Publications was founded in 1928 when it started Modern Machine Shop.
Denver-based Ray Publishing was created in 1993 when several staff members left Advanced Composites, which had been published by Advanstar Communications Inc.
The composites magazines will remain based in Denver. Ray Publishing founder Judy Hazen will continue as publisher. Jeff Sloan is editor in chief.
