Central States Marketing and Manufacturing installed an AMC/ BEX 54 extruder, and AMC Compact downstream equipment from American Maplan Corp., and the extrusion company boosted efficiency by 10-15 percent.
The ability of the line to do precision cutting has eliminated the need to cut off-line, according to CSM President Chuck Singleton. The extruder produces more than the company's other lines, and uses less energy, he said.
CSM and Maplan are both based in McPherson, Kan.
CSM is using the Maplan line to make window profiles, fence and siding and custom profiles for signs, furniture and other markets. The AMC/BEX 54 can turn out 65-285 pounds an hour.
The “plug-and-play” line were running the same day they were installed, Singleton said.
The extruder has water-filled screws and air-cooled barrel. The Compact downstream equipment includes a calibrating table, a belt haul-off and a saw.
