Noveon Inc. has a new fire-retardant thermoplastic polyurethane.
Estane ZHF95AT3 was designed to meet industry needs for a high limited-oxygen index and nonhalogenated TPU, according to Cleveland-based Noveon.
The new compound is well-suited to wire and cable jacketing, where it provides flame retardance while maintaining physical properties, ease of processing and aesthetics. It allows manufacturers the option to consider TPU in cable-tray applications that demand the high flame performance characterized by a TPU with a LOI above 35, according to Noveon, a subsidiary of Lubrizol Corp., in Wickliffe, Ohio.
