Herbold Meckesheim GmbH said its circular shredder in the ZSR series shreds large-diameter scrap pipe.
The material is deposited in a horizontal charging trough, which has a feeding device on the front side that pushes the material against an inclined disk rotor.
The rotor, equipped with special cutting tools, cuts the material into thick-walled chips, which then are crushed further in a mill.
The company in Meckesheim, Germany, said the circular shredder works better than single- or multiple-shaft shredders. Large pipes can be fed in horizontally and processed without cutting them down first.
Before shredding starts, the feed trough is closed and locked by a cover, for safe operation.
In other news, the company said its North American subsidiary in Smithfield, R.I., changed its name March 1 from Resource Recycling Systems Inc. to Herbold Meckesheim USA-Resource Recycling Systems Inc.
Domenic Antico will retire as president of the operation, but will continue as vice president of operations.
National Sales Manager Stephen Montalto will become president.
