The mixing head is called MK 3,5/5UL-2KVV. The compact unit can run throughputs as low as 5 grams a second. Each of the two components is fed to the mixing head via a connector block, with an integrated high-pressure filter.
The blocks also have a bypass function for easier setup and starts. Heating cartridges and pressure and temperature sensors can be integrated into the connector blocks.
The punch press is integrated with PU equipment, for the production of automotive instrument panels, center consoles and door trim.
The Electric TrimStar incorporates technology that Munich, Germany-based Krauss-Maffei has used on its all-electric injection molding presses. For instance, two servo drives with precision drive spindles ensure a forward stroke of the ram independent of the load. The two spindle drives are engineered for a life of 6 million cycles. They are controlled in parallel settings to ensure synchronization.
Krauss-Maffei has reduced the footprint of the punch press by 25 percent.
