American Leistritz Extruder Corp. will host a seminar on pharmaceutical extrusion June 6-7 at its operation in Somerville, N.J.
Leistritz said the event is especially important because of the Food and Drug Administration's Process Analytical Technology Initiative, which encourages continuous processes with in-line testing as a way to overcome limitations that are inherent in batch processing.
Topics will include staging of the extrusion line to continuously manufacture a solid-dosage drug-delivery system, upstream feeding and materials-handling, downstream equipment for pelletizing, spheronization, films and transderemal products, materials, cleaning the equipment and other technologies, such as foaming, coextrusion and continuous spheronization.
The seminar includes classroom sessions and machine demonstrations.
The cost is $920.
