The Society of Plastics Engineers' annual technical conference, Antec, together with Plastics News' Plastics Encounter trade show, drew 3,546 people to Cincinnati from May 6-10.
This is the first year that Antec and Plastics Encounter were collocated. The Brookfield, Conn.-based SPE and Plastics News of Akron, Ohio, will team up again next May at the 2008 Antec in Milwaukee.
Susan Oderwald, SPE executive director, said collocating the two events is part of the society's objective to increase value to its members.
``The positive response to our events being combined is validation that our members are happy with our decision,'' she said.
The trade show, which ran May 8-10 during Antec, had more than 200 exhibitors representing 235 companies.
Antec 2007 had 656 technical papers, about 25 percent more than the year before.
Tony Eagan, PN publisher and vice president, said organizers heard a positive response from the show floor.
``We're thrilled with the outcome of combining both events,'' he said. Attendees could were to a cross section of the plastics industry, Eagan said.
The 2006 Antec drew 2,053 to Charlotte, N.C.
