Jeff Somple is president of the Northern Division of Mack Molding Co. (www.mack.com). That unit includes three injection molding facilities in Vermont, as well as Mack Prototype, a rapid prototyping and tooling operation in Gardner, Mass. He also serves on the board of directors of each of Mack Group's subsidiaries, including Mack Prototype, Mack Molding and Mack Technology. Mack Group's sales exceed $275 million and the privately held firm employs more than 1,850 people.
Somple has been with Mack since 1988, when he joined the sales department. He moved quickly up the ranks to vice president of sales and engineering, a position he held until being named president of the Northern Division in 2002. The company has completely remade itself in recent years, moving away from the cutthroat computers and business equipment sectors that were migrating offshore, and into markets as diverse as medical devices, furniture, very large truck parts, recreational and utility vehicles and big-screen televisions.
Earlier, Somple was northeast regional sales manager for five years for Continental Extrusion Corp., an extruder, printer and converter of plastic packaging in Garden City, N.Y. He also owned and operated his own restaurant in Black Rock, Ct.
He is an active committee member of the Society of the Plastics Industry Inc.'s Alliance of Plastics Processors business unit. He holds a bachelor's degree from Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vt., and resides in Manchester Center, Vt.
