Demag Plastics Group will take advantage of the global platform offered by K 2007, the world's biggest plastics industry trade show, to show off its streamlined and innovative press range.
As part of a plan to refine and simplify its product portfolio, Demag will highlight an expanded, larger size range for its modular Systec hydraulic injection press line with new, 280-420 metric ton versions, and two new sizes, 100 and 210 metric tons, for its all-electric IntElect line.
The Systec will grow still further next year with a first-half launch of presses from 450-800 metric tons and second-half rollout of presses from 1,000-2,000 metric tons. Demag will take orders for those presses at the K show, scheduled for Oct. 24-31 in Dusseldorf, Germany. Starting this fall, Systec will offer a full line up of 13 clamping force sizes from 25-420 metric tons.
Demag's booth will have seven presses in action, including a Systec 350/720-1450, incorporating in-mold decoration capability and an integrated Demag DR 731 robot, producing interior trim for the Volkswagen Passat car.
On the all-electrics front, the upgraded IntElect line, available in 50-210 metric ton models this year, will add presses of 280-420 metric tons for Europe and a 100 metric ton unit for China in 2008. The company's booth at K show will demonstrate an IntElect 210/580-1000 press molding syringe pistons in a 48-cavity mold with a cycle time of less than 12 seconds.
Demag's third machine line, the fast-cycling El-Exis S, will innovate with an optimized clamping unit and new, reduced dry-cycling times, according to the company. Two El-Exis presses will be on display. One, an El-Exis S 550/1020-3600, will turn out lids with a 24-cavity stack mold; and the second, an El-Exis S multi 300/720-840h multicomponent machine will produce a two-part polyethylene oil bottle closure in cycle times of under 8 seconds.
With 10 sizes - up to 700 metric tons of clamping force by the end of next year - and the promise of later expansion to 1,000 metric tons, the hybrid El-Exis is aimed at fast-cycling applications such as in packaging.
Demag is stressing the modular design of its machinery lines with a range of add-on multicomponent options.
