Prosecutors have identified the cause of a 2004 explosion that killed nine people at thermoformer ICL Plastics group in Glasgow, Scotland. As was suspected from the start, it was related to gas-fired industrial ovens on the site.
At a hearing at the High Court in Glasgow advocate-depute Angus Stewart QC told judge Lord Hardie the explosion was "caused by the ignition of petroleum gas from a pipeline."The factory operators face criminal charges under Britain's Health and Safety Act.
