Dow Chemical Co. has added ionomers to its line of Amplify functionalized polyolefins.
Amplify IO polymers are directed at demanding applications in food packaging, medical packaging, molded goods and impact modification of nylon. Dow of Midland, Mich., claims the new ionomers offer very good optical properties, high melt strength, impact and scratch resistance, and adhesion to polyethylene, metals, glass and nylon. Dow says they can be processed by injection molding, and as films and coatings.
The new ionomers, based on ethylene/acrylic acid copolymers, are available in various sodium and zinc versions.
