NPE 2009 will use the big new McCormick Place West, along with the south and the north halls, but will drop McCormick East, the building alongside Lake Michigan.
The Society of the Plastics Industry Inc., which sponsors NPE, has reached an agreement with the Chicago exposition center, SPI said July 30, just as Chicago completes construction of the $882 million McCormick West.
NPE will take place June 22-26, 2009.
SPI plans to hold the NPE 2009 exhibitor space drawing Feb. 19-20 in the west building's 100,000-square-foot ballroom.
The west building has 470,000 square feet of exhibition space. That means the three halls for NPE 2009 will have a total of 68,000 square feet more than if the east building were used instead of the west, SPI said.
McCormick West also offers 250,000 square feet of meeting space, divided among 61 meeting rooms.
``By adding extensive state-of-the-art meeting facilities, this new building will play a valuable role in SPI's plan to develop the largest and most diversified educational program ever provided at an NPE,'' said Bill Carteaux, president and chief executive officer of Washington-based SPI, in a news release.
At NPE 2006, 1,838 exhibitors used 942,524 square feet of exhibit space.
