Quality Models Ltd. is expanding its Orangeburg, S.C., injection molding plant.
Quality Models will invest $4 million in Orangeburg, including its warehouse. The company anticipates it will complete the project in the fourth quarter of this year. The expansion is expected to create 20 jobs.
``During the past four years, since the original construction [of the plant], we have enjoyed the opportunities for the growth that were available in this region,'' Quality Models operations manager Dave Meloche said in a news release.
The expansion will allow the firm to serve current customers better and expand into new markets, he added.
Quality Models already has invested more than $10 million in the Orangeburg facility and created 60 jobs since the facility opened in March 2004.
A major customer of the Orangeburg plant is Honda of South Carolina Manufacturing Inc. in Timmonsville, S.C.
Quality Models of Tecumseh, Ontario, operates five plants: three in the Windsor-Tecumseh area, one in Orangeburg and one in Melvindale, Mich. The firm supplies plastic parts to the power sports, industrial, automotive and vehicle aftermarket industries. It also manufactures components for the recreational marine industry.
Quality Models officials were unavailable to comment on Orangeburg's expansion.
