At K 2007 Nissei Plastic Industrial Co. Ltd. is introducing a hybrid injection press and an all-electric machine, plus displaying its CNT technology, which stands for carbon nanotube.
The hybrid PNX40, with 40 tons of clamping force, will mold a bar-shaped sample part. A key feature is what Nissei calls the Hybrid X-Pump, which combines servomotor and hydraulic technologies as the driving source of the press. By controlling the rotation of the servomotor, the motor only delivers power to the pump when it is needed. When no power is required, it stops.
Nagano-based Nissei claims the press consumes 55 percent less energy than its hydraulic presses.
The Hybrid X-Pump improves on Nissei's X-Pump with several features:
* Injection ramp-up time has a high response, on par with all-electric injection presses.
* Using fully closed-loop control, stable control can be achieved in the ultra-low-speed range of 1 millimeter a second. The top speed is 550mm per second.
* Since the PNX40 uses a servomotor drive, it is almost as quiet as an all-electric machine. The hybrid press also is less expensive than an all-electric.
The clamping mechanism adopts the same direct-clamping type Nissei uses in its popular hydraulic FN line. Major features include a more-uniform, accurate clamping force distributed to the mold, an easily set lower clamping force, long-term maintenance of the parallelism of the clamping mechanism and faster mold changes.
Nissei also will show:
* A 50-ton, all-electric NEX505E, from Nissei's NEX line. At K, the press will mold a 2.5-inch, thin light-guide panel, on a two-cacity mold. Standard features include automatic correction of clamping force through a direct-pressure toggle mechanism, which compensates for changes in clamping as a result of higher mold temperatures and other factors.
* Its efforts to commercialize nanotechnology, by injection molding composite materials using carbon nanotubes. The company will display plastic and metal parts for automotive and electrical/electronics markets.
