Clyrell EM248U is a copolymer targeted for U.S. usage, following the European introduction of a similar grade. The PP achieves clarity and impact strength without the addition of plastomers, thus saving costs and an extra processing step, said the Hoofddorp, Netherlands, firm.
Basell claims the new PP has low levels of volatiles and oli¼gomers and does not require viscosity breaking or peroxide treatment. Its low taste makes it suited to food packaging and it can be used with in-mold labeling and offset printing. Its melt flow rate, of about 2½ ounces per 10 minutes, provides processing ease.
