PAWCATUCK, CONN. (Sept. 10, 5:30 p.m. EDT) — It'll be a blue, blue K 2007 show for Davis-Standard LLC, which will roll out its Euro Blue II at the show Oct. 24-31 in Dusseldorf, Germany.
Davis-Standard will show the Euro Blue II extruder, an HPE extruder and a system making cotton-swab sticks.
The Pawcatuck-based company introduced the first Euro Blue at K 2004. Euro Blue II is an upgraded version of that extruder. Features include a double-reduction gearbox with helical, carburized gears, an integral high-capacity thrust bearing, a cast-iron feed section and a four-zone bimetallic barrel mixing feed screw.
Euro Blue II is designed for custom profile and tubing applications, plus basic wire and cable coating. It comes in screw diameters of 50, 60, 75 and 90 millimeters. The length-to-diameter ratio is 24-to-1.
The machine comes with a two-year warranty, supported by Davis-Standard's technical and aftermarket services in Brookes, England.
The HPE-100A is a small extruder for coextrusion and multilayer extrusion that boasts a small footprint and fast delivery. Available in sizes of 19-44mm, the HPE uses a direct-drive motor instead of belts. It swivels on a column, allowing positioning at any angle. Vertical adjustment is done by means of a lift screw. All sliding and swiveling components can be locked firmly into place for a rigid position.
The line making cotton-swab sticks is completed with a Betopac machine for pulling, cutting and packing small serrated tubes. It can zip out as many as 4,500 sticks per minute. At K, it will package around 2,000-2,500 per minute.
