Davis-Standard LLC has developed a gusseting unit for blown film bubbles up to 60 feet in circumference, aimed at wide industrial and agricultural film.
The unit simplifies installation and reduces the overall tower width, by reducing the space required for the support and retracted mechanism. The roll face, upper nip assembly comes in widths from 100-220 inches.
Because of the modular design, sections of the gusseting device fit into shipping containers.
An articulated adjustment mechanism is mounted directly onto the upper nip frame, a design Davis-Standard says replaces traditional, separate steel supports beyond the tower structure to eliminate excess width. The upper nip-mounted arm swings under the nip unit, which is used for motorized adjustment of the gusset's top position.
Davis-Standard's Converting Systems Group is based in Fulton, N.Y.
