Two conferences leading up to K 2007 will focus on markets and developments in films and thermoplastic elastomers, while the Society of Plastics Engineers Europe will run several of its minitec seminars during the Dusseldorf show.
* Oct. 22-23 - Maack Business Services' Specialty Plastic Films
The annual conference, held at the Dusseldorf Hilton, covers global markets and developments in food, hygiene, pharmaceutical and nonfood applications. It will feature about 25 presentations and panel discussions on products, technologies, markets and applications. Topics include polyolefin film and sheet; cast, blown and biaxially oriented film; bioresins; food applications; barrier film and clear barrier coatings; and machine direction orientation film. More than 150 film experts from around the world are expected to attend.
On Oct. 22, the conference will feature speakers from Barilla Group, Kraft Foods Inc., Mars Petcare & Food, Nestle SA, Procter & Gamble Co. and Unilever NV at a brand owners' panel discussion.
The event also will have table-top exhibits.

* Oct. 23-24 - Rapra Technology's TPE Conference
The conference, at the Renaissance Cologne Hotel, looks at the latest developments in several types of TPEs, plus topics such as additives, processing, applications, commercial and design aspects. Speakers will cover new developments, including bonding TPEs to engineering plastics, rubber, glass and other materials, overmolding, automotive sealing systems and foaming.
