Edward Ringley, part owner of BER Plastics Inc. in Riverdale, N.J., died Sept. 29. The Saddle River resident was 77.
He was a pioneer in the polyethylene film industry in the early 1950s. He started several blown film companies in New Jersey, including Rafco Plastics Inc. of Totowa, Delawanna Plastics of Hawthorne and Astro Plastics of Oakland.
Ringley designed several patented extrusion processes still used today. He remained active in machinery design and as a consultant for other plastics firms.
He was a member of the Society of Plastics Engineers. A bird lover, he was a life member of the New Jersey Audubon Society.
He is survived by his wife, Jean, and four children.
