A new weigh batching machine from Flexicon Corp. discharges material from bulk bags, delumps it and gravimetrically feeds it into rigid bins.
The unloader uses a manual Spout-Lock clamp ring, at the top of a pneumatically actuated telescoping tube, called Tele-Tub. That design allows an operator to make a good, sealed connection between the clean side of the bag spout and the clean side of the hopper, and to elongate the bag automatically as it empties.
Above the point of connection, a Power-Cincher pneumatically actuated flow control valve cinches the bag spout concentrically, allowing the retying of partially empty bags with no dusting. Bag activators, called Flow-Flexers, raise and lower opposite bottom edges of the bag at timed intervals, to loosen compacted material and promote flow into the discharge spout.
The unloader's surge hopper discharges material into a low-profile delumping device that has dual rotors and three-point heads to break up agglomerated material that has formed in the bag.
Flexicon is in Bethlehem, Pa.
