Ring Container Technologies Corp. will invest $16.7 million in a new plastics plant in Louisiana that will make bottles for vegetable oil.
The St. Landry Parish Economic and Industrial Development District announced plans for the plant, in Opelousas, on Nov. 21, with construction set to begin by the end of the year.
Ring Container, based in Oakland, Tenn., will mold bottles for Lou-Ana Foods, part of Ventura Foods LLC of Brea, Calif. State and local economic development groups will help the company finance the project, with the St. Landry Economic group issuing up to $20 million in tax-exempt bonds and Louisiana Economic Development building a $110,000 rail spur to the site.
The Opelousas plant will be the 19th blow molding site for Ring, which added an operation in Sidney, Ohio, earlier this year. The company posted $250 million in sales during its last fiscal year.
