Canadian chains drop PC bottles
Lululemon Athletica, an athletic apparel company that touts its ethical business practices, is the second Canadian sporting goods retailer to announce that it will no longer sell polycarbonate water bottles because of concern about the safety of bisphenol A.
BPA safety has been a back-burner issue for the plastics industry in recent months. It seems like there's been a lot more attention focused on numerous plastic bag bans around the world, and concerns in North America about the proliferation of PET water bottles.
But this move by Lululemon, following a similar move by Mountain Equipment Co-op, seems to indicate a trend that could spread, at least to other sporting goods retailers in North America.
