Gary Carr joined Williamston, Mich.-based Bekum America Corp. as a sales engineer right out of college in 1985. He has held numerous technical sales, marketing and sales management positions for the maker of extrusion blow molding machinery, and assumed his current post of national sales director in fall 2006. The 29-year-old U.S. firm is a unit of Bekum Maschinenfabriken GmbH in Berlin, Germany.
For the last nine years, Carr has served as a director of the blow molding division of the Society of Plastics Engineers and also is chairman of its marketing committee. He also holds a U.S. patent on a novel blow molding machine design.
Carr has been actively involved in numerous concept-to-production-ready extrusion blow molding projects and considers product and process innovations to be key in future business opportunities. As a case in point, last year he played a key role in making it possible to produce a radical, new Y-shaped copolyester bottle for packaging Y Water, an organic, low-calorie, mineral-infused line of drinks aimed at kids.
He graduated from Michigan's Ferris State University with a bachelor of science degree in plastics engineering technology.
