Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics Corp. acquired the assets of J&J Scientific Products Inc. from Albert and Carol Helicke on Feb. 8. Terms were not disclosed.
J&J employs 20 at an 8,000-square-foot plant in Tampa, Fla., that manufactures single-use plastic parts and assemblies for use in biopharmaceutical industry research, development and production. J&J capabilities include thermoplastic elastomer injection molding. The company also assembles systems using extruded components that it buys from other vendors.
Among its disposable products, J&J manufactures EZ Top-brand container closures and tubing sets, pre-assembled spinner flask accessories and thermoplastic manifold systems with a totally seamless fluid path. Under a long-term agreement with Saint-Gobain, J&J is a master distributor of Saint-Gobain-made C-Flex-brand TPE biopharmaceutical tubing.
The Helickes, who founded J&J in 2000, intend to assist with the transition of the business to Saint- Gobain's Portage, Wis.-based health-care markets business unit. J&J complements existing lines of products at Saint-Gobain, the company said in a news release.
Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics of Aurora, Ohio, is a unit of Paris-based Cie. de Saint-Gobain.
